BETA CINEMA PRESENTS "THE METHOD" AT EFM – A NEW THRILLER PRODUCED BY WIEDEMANN & BERG FILM, WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY LENA STAHL

Beta Cinema adds another essential title to its EFM line-up: THE METHOD is based on Juli Zeh’s internationally best-selling novel and is produced by Quirin Berg, Max Wiedemann, and Laura Mihajlovic from Wiedemann & Berg Film (The Lives of Others, Never Look Away, Dark). Written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lena Stahl (My Son), the compelling thriller brings together a stellar cast including Hannah Herzsprung (Four Minutes, Babylon Berlin), Damian Hardung (Maxton Hall), Alexander Fehling (Labyrinth of Lies), Haley Louise Jones (Sad Jokes, Dear Child) and Christian Friedel (Zone of Interest, White Lotus).

In a society shaped by the "Method," comprehensive health and absolute transparency are the guiding principles. The life of scientist Mia Holl is suddenly turned upside down when her brother Moritz is accused of murder. The evidence against him is overwhelming – yet Mia is convinced of his innocence. Driven by this contradiction, she is forced to act against a system that allows no room for doubt. But whom can she trust? Her colleague Christiane, her brother’s lawyer, or the charismatic journalist Kramer? As Mia fights for truth and justice, she herself becomes the hunted.

The production assembles an outstanding creative team behind the camera: Academy Award winner Volker Bertelmann (Conclave, All Quiet on the Western Front) and Lennart Saathoff compose the original score; Philipp Haberlandt (Black Mirror) serves as Director of Photography; and Academy Award winner Christian Goldbeck (All Quiet on the Western Front) joins as Production Designer. The film is produced by Quirin Berg, Max Wiedemann and Laura Mihajlovic (Wiedemann & Berg Film) and is currently in post-production. LEONINE is planning a wide theatrical release later this year, with Beta Cinema presenting the title to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin.

The film is written and directed by Lena Stahl (My Son), adapted from the best-selling novel by Juli Zeh, one of Germany’s most acclaimed contemporary authors. Zeh’s works are published in more than 15 countries, with THE METHOD appearing in the UK, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, Hungary, Turkey, Russia, and beyond.

Dirk Schürhoff, CEO at Beta Cinema states, “We are thrilled to continue our long-term relationship with Wiedemann & Berg with THE METHOD. Lena Stahl delivers a gripping vision of a society under pressure — both timely and universally resonant. With its striking visuals and outstanding performances, we look forward to presenting this exceptional project to our international partners at the EFM.”
