The Other Side

by Mariko Minoguchi

Starring Nina Hoss, this Alpine-set thriller unfolds in a spectacular yet unforgiving landscape, echoing theunresolved trauma of a pandemic and transforming isolation, fear, and survival into a tense cinematic experience.

Since losing her family to a fatal disease, Hanna has been living alone in the Alpine wilderness, far from a society ruled by fear and mistrust. Nearly a year after the outbreak, countless lives have been lost; those who survived remain carriers of the virus and are cast out into camps so the healthy can continue their lives. Hanna, a former doctor, chose isolation over captivity, abandoning her home to escape this new order. Her solitary life promises freedom - until an unexpected encounter forces her to confront what she's left behind. When she finds an injured skier, saving his life would mean returning to civilization. Is she willing to take that risk for the sake of another human being? How much are we prepared to sacrifice for the chance to belong?
