Max Farberbock's second world war survival tale A Woman In Berlin was named best international film at the 24th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival, which came to a close at the weekend.
The Panavision Spirit Award for Independent Cinema went to Poppy Shakespeare, Benjamin Ross' account of friendship in a psychiatric hospital and the best documentary prize went to Megan Donneman's Yes Madam, Sir about the social activist and retired Indian Police Service officer Jiran Bedi. The film also won the Fund For Santa Barbara Social Justice Award. (...)
The festival ran from January 22-February 1 and closed with the world premiere of Jeff Balsmeyer's The Lightbulb starring Dallas Roberts, Jeremy Renner and Ayelet Zurer.
