Santa Monica, 6 November 2008. Beta Cinema announced its first U.S. sale at the American Film Market: Paolo Sorrentino's Il Divo (Cannes Jury Award), about the controversial Italian politician Giulio Andreotti, was sold to the U.S. distributor MPI Media Group. The German-language rights to Il Divo were acquired by Delphi Film. The production was also sold to Sweden (Folkets Bio), Denmark (Sunrise Film), Poland (Against Gravity, and HBO Poland for pay-TV), Czech Republic/Slovakia (David Matous Communications) and Hungary (Best Hollywood).

Beta Cinema also reports the sale of Philipp Stoelzl's mountain-climbing drama North Face to Italy's Lady Film and Mars Production in Turkey. France is in final negotiation. Machan (Venice winner of the Europa Cinema Award), Umberto Pasolini's story of a sham handball team from Sri Lanka, was sold to France (UGC), Canada (Alliance Atlantis) and to Switzerland's Rialto Film. Hannes Stoehr's Berlin Calling was purchased by Hungary (Best Hollywood) and the Czech Republic / Slovakia (David Matous Communications). Run For Your Life will be distributed in Hungary by Best Hollywood and in Croatia/Bosnia/Serbia by Pa-Do-Ra.
