Munich, July 1 2011. This year's Young German Cinema Award for Best Director at the Munich Film Festival goes to Tim Fehlbaum for his debut film HELL (WT). The movie, executive produced by Roland Emmerich (“The Day After Tomorrow”) and starring Hannah Herzsprung (“Four Minutes”), is set in the year 2016 when violent solar storms dried up the Earth causing an unbearable heat in which hardly anyone is able to survive. The jury stated: “HELL is an outstanding directorial debut of great density and masterful skillfulness. With his first full-length feature film, Tim Fehlbaum gives rise to something exceptional: he brings the genre to a new beginning with extreme stylistic prowess in the visual domain, as well as with suspense and spot-on timing”. The Young German Cinema Awards is among the most important and most coveted awards for young film professionals in Germany. HELL(WT) is produced by Thomas Wöbke/Gabriele Walther, Caligari Film- und Fernsehproduktion in coproduction with Vega film and SevenPictures Film. Beta Cinema is handling the world sales.
