Munich, 12 May 2015. Beta Cinema brings the team behind Cannes-award winning “Moscow, Belgium” back to the Croisette and presents its latest acquisition, VINCENT AND THE END OF THE WORLD by director Christophe van Rompaey, for pre-sales during the market. The dramatic comedy, a French-Belgium co-production by A Private View, Les Enragés and Les Films de la Croisade, is currently shooting and scheduled to wrap on May 27.

The ace cast includes Alexandra Lamy (“Ricky”), Barbara Sarafian (“Moscow, Belgium”, ”Bullhead”) and Geert van Rampelberg (“The Broken Circle Breakdown”) with 17-year old Spencer Bogaert (“Labyrinthus”) playing the lead. Christophe van Rompaey’s “Moscow, Belgium” won three awards at the 2008 Cannes Critics’ Week and sold significantly around the globe.

Vincent is a 17-year old environmental activist who drives his family crazy with his preachy agitation to reduce their carbon footprint – and his making a point about it by performing numerous suicide attempts. His giddy French aunt Nikki takes him on a trip to France, convinced that the boy’s obsession is related to his suffocating mother. But on their road-trip Vincent proves to be much more than Nikki can handle.

“Jean-Claude van Rijckeghem’s script is warm and funny, with his typical hand for original characters. It rings true on every page. And director Christophe van Rompaey will refine it with his distinctly cinematic approach and his talent to bring about extraordinary performances that make it resonate widely, just like he did on “Moscow, Belgium”. I am so happy to be working with Christophe, Jean-Claude and producer Dries Phlypo again”, says Beta Cinema’s EVP Thorsten Ritter.

Beta Cinema’s 2015 Cannes slate is headed by international market premiere YOU CAN’T SAVE YOURSELF ALONE by Sergio Castellitto, the Emma Watson/Daniel Bruehl/Mikael Nyqvist-starrer COLONIA as well as the two family entertainment market premieres GHOSTHUNTERS - ON ICY TRAILS and THE PASTA DETECTIVES.
